NAKED NURSING

This beach picture is in Cuba and reminds me of a vacation i once had in the Domincan Republic with and EX boyfriend. I had been many times but it was his first trip and so being the big, ba ex marine, when i told him that it is so much hotter and he needed to keep hydrated while at the beach, he ignored me. So while we lay there for hours in the sun, i drank cold water, poured it over my head occasionally and frequently got in the water. He on the other hand, lay there, didnt drink water, refused to have it on his head and didnt get in the water one time. I might mention here that i always lay out topless on the beach and on this occasion had on a neon orange thong with rhinestones across the back of the thong. When we got up to go to lunch, he tried to stand and almost fell, i felt smug till i realised he was sick and not getting any better. Since he was a large man, i didnt want him passing out on me on the beach as few poeple ther speak English and my Spanish isnt good enough to give long detailed information. With no help in sight, i got up, grabbed my bag and helped him toward the huge outdoor showers just down the beach. As we walked along, him leaning heavily on me, a man, half dragging a woamn , intersected our path. Just as i took in their situation, she fell face first into the sand. I told the EX to keep heading toward the showers and turn the showerheads on and stand in them. I went to the man, explained that im a nurse after determing that they were English speaking. I asked her health history and decided she too must be suffering from heat exhaustion. When i turned her over, she was so pale, i was afraid she might die. We dragged her toward the outdoor showers . The heads on the shower wer high and at thigh level for rinsing legs. I leaned her back against my legs, breats on her head and cupped my hands to pour wat over her face and neck to cool her down all the while keepin one eye on the EX , who stood swaying in the water , and trying to calm the nearly hysterical husband. I carefully told him what had happened with her and what to do after we all left the shower. Slowly over 15 to 20 minutes, the EX, was feeling better, the wife was able to talk and sit up by herself, and the husband was calming down. I stood up feeling very good about the situation and turned to see about 6 other people in the shower rinsing off and watching the drama. Suddenly, like a light bulb went off over my head, i realised, i was nearly naked with all these people i did not know. The absurdity of it all almost made me laugh, so i calmly put on my top and pareo, grabbed the EX by the arm and held my laughter till we made it some distance from the shower. How many people can say they saved lives naked? Now there is a vacation memory for you,lol......

Found this picture on a Cuban blog, thought id share it too,lol...

As i was driving in the country the other day i saw an old rundown building, very small , by the side of the road with a hand painted sign that said....NOT FOR SALE...made me laugh , so i found this picture to show you the condition of the building. I wish i could have taken one of the real building but i didnt have ny camera with me, but i couldnt help wanting to share it with you, the sense of humor from some farmer!!!

Boo Boo Bear and Doggies

This cute little fellow lives somewhere in the neighborhood and comes to visit me almost everyday,, stays a few minutes then moves on back down the road. He is the sweetest little dog,and the grandkids love him. Wish i knew his name.

My granddaughter Abbi has a Boo Boo bear in my freezer that has a pouch in its belly that has a liquid that stays cold and can be applied to boos boos and bug bites to sooth them and makes every thing feel better . I noticed it today when i was getting food out and it occured to me I wish I could take a big Boo Boo bear to the hospital and cure all the ills of the patients as easily as it soothes my granddaughter. Silly thought but one i had to share. BOO BOO BEAR

Grandaughter madness

I have not posted in a while as it is summer which means opening the pool, planting flowers, dragging out the grill and all the lawn furniture, grandkids who love these things at my house, cleaning the hottub, wash the truck, take 4 kids to Wal Mart for photo session....whewwww. After all that , i sat with my grandaughter to take a few pictures and unbeknownst to me she was making faces at the camera while i was smiling, when i discovered it when i looked in the viewfinder, she laughed like a maniac at having tricked me. Actually, several were pretty funny so im posting a few . I have found that the grandkids love my hottub and view it as a big outdoor bathtub, so now im keeping the temp low as im sure cooking them slowly would be bad form, lol. I love summer and spent the day yesterday with my niece who is a big Sex and The City fan like i am. It was wonderful like we expected it to be, ( she is a Carrie and im Samantha we decided). Trauma season is up and running at the hospital so my blogs may be farther in between but i love doing this!! Latest gross story is i heard that a morbidly obese woman came into the hospital weight over 600 pds, she was in our trauma bay and while the team was trying to resuscitate her , a mouse ran off the table and across the trauma bay. When the team was unable to bring her back , they started to examine her to determine what might have happened and discovered a large decubitus( bedsore) in the back of her leg and inside was a mouse nest and live babies!!! One of the most disgusting things i have heard of in a long time. Tomorrow is clean out the disgusting pool day and while it is slimy and nasty , it is cool. I really do not like getting in water where i cant see what is in with me. As an update, im no longer dating the Latino, we ended as friends but i think his decision to be a minister was the death knell for me, did i mention im like Samantha in Sex and the City? Im certain im not a ministers girlfriend and i wish him well, he will do a good job!! So back to being single and looking forward to a great summer filled with fun, joy, family and friends!!!

Happy Mothers Day with much sympathy

I just spent the evening with my son Justin and his fiance Stacy. She cooked dinner and is an awesome cook, so when she said she was making chicken and dumplings, i quickly agreed to go over. While i was there she gave me several gifts for Mothers day and my son gave me a card that he signed in green crayon, lol, which makes me love it all the more considering he is almost 26 years old. Im lucky i get one every year because he wouldnt remember if it wasnt for Stacy . I started laughing while at their house because every year Mothers day makes me remember my favorite card he gave me when he was about 18. He went on his own and bought it which suprised me becuase he is a typical man and doesnt remember that stuff so , when he gave me the card i was suprised and proud that he remembered Mothers day. When i opened the card, it was a Sympathy card that he signed , HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, LOVE JUSTIN. I asked him why he bough a Sympathy card and he shrugged and said, ITS ALL THEY HAD, lol, I love it and its my favorite card. So funny that he gave me that card like he was sorry i had to be his mother, lol.

Dia De Madre and Tortilla Gringa

I spent the weekend with my Hispanic familia and since the church was having a Mothers day celebration, i helped with some of the preparations. Albertos nephew Jerry came over with his wife and baby son Brandon and the men prepared the food for the church dinner. I tried to help with the tortilla making since so many had to be made but i think all i succeded in doing was making them laugh. They use a tortilla press but when i tried to show them how i had learned when living in Texas years ago , i was a sad failure, lol. I learned from a friends mother who made the mix herself and so using my hands to pat out the tortillas, i learned that Maseca is not the same consistency as homemade dough, so i ended up making dough fly everywhere and in making the boys laugh hysterically at the gringas attempts. I named the tortillas i made Tortilla Gringa. When i tried to use the press, i made them too thin and tore them removing them form the plastic, but after some attempts, i started getting better at it and less entertaining for the boys. At church sunday morning , Alberto and his nephews sang a Guatemalan song about mothers and they were very good !! Most church members are from Guatemala, a few from Mexico and one lady is from Honduras. Hardly anyone spoke to me from shyness im hoping, but the lady pictured in the black top is Esmerelda and she was very gracious to me and i liked her immediately. I snuck in this picture while the church photographer had the ladies pose. After, they were given beautiful red roses and all the men served the women and cleaned up afterwards!!! The food was delicious but my favorite was Albertos rice. Im huge rice fan and it was so good, i proposed to Alberto but i think he failed to take me seriously, lol. One thing i have to add, is that after the sermon, which was in Spanish with English translations for my benefit, i realized i have never seen a more meaningful and heartfelt dedication to mothers . I was pleasantly suprised to see that i was able to follow along with most of the sermon even though my Spanish is not so good. All in all, it was a good weekend. Sorry about the bunched up pictures, ill have to learn how to seperate them . Hope EVERYONE HAD A GOOD WEEKEND!!
